When the car gets hot heaters only go warm at best but if you rev it to about 3000 rpm they will go hot and when it goes back to idling they go warm or cold again also the expansion tank goes a lot lower after car has been running but Glad yours was sorted with a cheap part to sort it, my 1.4 TDCi is currently on around 122k miles and has no issues, its the 1.6 TDCI DV6 engine that has all the issues. Thought some of you members may benefit from my experience with 2008 Focus 1.6 tdci. It started a stuttering/hesitation which came and went - no fault codes for warning lights. Some times it would stall the car, sometimes it would be brief and car ran on with no problems.

Engine system fault appears on dash and car in safe mode but no engine management light except on turning on the ignition the fault appears before starting and the little red light that should go off on starting remains on 9 times out of 10 if I turn on and start. No delay then no fault appears. No codes appear ??
